Its standards have been adopted in whole or in part by forty-five states. NCATE’s standards are fast becoming the de facto national standard. Whether this development favors reform or strengthens the. The NECPA Standards Book defines the quality core standards of the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation system (NECPA) and should be used as a guide and resource by the field and by programs seeking NECPA accreditation. The NECPA system continues to be based upon a weighted system approach in the Standards Update.

    The essays review the history, current state, and projected future of accreditation and program responses in teacher education, pharmacy, nursing, social work, business, computer science, engineering, and the visual arts.
